You’ve been on my mind all day today. It started when I went to Spotify this morning on my way to work and the first song to play on my playlist was Kung Fu Panda by Cee Lo Green. This was your song a couple years ago. The one you wanted to hear…the only one you wanted to hear. It made me think of your smile. Your smile that lights up my face, that makes me smile inside and out. Your dancing, which consists of hips moving fast from side to side. Your movement knows no rhythm, but it is contagious. Your laugh, it melts me. Not the reserved laugh when things are remotely amusing, but the deep belly laughs. The one where you know that it will be a good while before it’ll be over so I have time to soak it in and really enjoy it.
You are ready for school to start back. You told me the other day that there was 30 days until the first day. You are already talking about who will be in your class, and what teacher you may be lucky enough to have. You are excited that all your Blessed Beginnings friends will be joining you at Elementary School this year. You say, “Man, I will have even more friends.” Yes, you know no stranger.
I pray that you are kind. I pray that you love and hug often. I pray that the way you talk about friends and having so many, is how you make others feel. I pray you make others feel special.
I pray that you keep your chin up when you are disappointed, and never give up when you fail. Failure is such a thing, but think of failure as a learning experience. It’s the opportunity to give you another chance to try it again. I believe in you.
